Life’s Ailments’ Sole Cure Poem by NGALAH GWEDENG

Life’s Ailments’ Sole Cure

I wish to God that my dreams become true
And pray earnestly to lead a life pure
So that from me you may learn how so sure
Candour is all of life’s ailment’s sole cure.

I wish each day I leave home to submit 5
My will to His so out there I commit
No fault to alter the goals that I set
To be enriched to forgive and forget.

I wish to forget all pains and count gains
So my blessings may multiply like grains 10
Of love I sow in faces to keep grins
Away from smiles that spark to slay all sins.

I wish all sins be washed from every thought
That crosses my mind each time I get caught
In the puddle of problems that drills doubt 15
Into my heart where trust and faith do sprout.

I wish to trust in faith all vows I make
To serve Him truly when I sleep and wake
Each blessed morn that reminds me of speck
That I am which He protects from all wreck. 20

I wish such protection empowers me
To protect you who count on me to be
Your pacesetter in the burden to bear
The Cross and wait until His voice we hear.

I wish to God to harden not my heart 25
When that still voice is heard to bid me start
From dreams I bore that like painful sores hurt
The truth like a cell in which I am shut.

I wish to God to stay shut to be pure
And pray to play not with that which is True 30
And Good and Beautiful to serve as cure
For life’s ailments from which I stay so sure.
