Living Color

Through the light, bursts of color float a flashing show of kites
The smiles of the children made my mind swim, wishing for that life
The deep blue washes over me in different shades
Pulling, twirling, dancing, prancing, the blue unwires my mind
What was once known now unknown
Red blue yellow balloons sent my stone heart falling away.
Standing in front of me is a doll house, all dull shades of grey and blue.
A doll hangs from strings acting as her noose,
So I cut them away leaving her gasping for air.
Offering my hand to her I stand her up, she springs out like a baby taking her first step.
I dance with her as she flops then floats.
Feather’s touch she waves me on to dance,
Not alone pulling the rope from the wall, the Jester takes hold of me.
Making my mind foggy he kisses me, forever he and me.
Lifting me, he walks me over the threshold of darkness
The off white walls straining and dripping red.
On the floor as if dead is his gift to me- a teddy bear.
Lifting his mask and dropping his cloths.
Naked
I see the man inside a prince unfold in my arms.
My gift once a monster now trapped within brown fur awakens.
He was a terror in the days of yore; he now lies trapped as he was on the floor, my doll house becoming a castle with stones of gray.
I swish and mash the ick beneath my feet, purple clay.
I seem to stick.
The flashing show now reappearing, I’m sad I’ll have to return,
But, I’ll always be able to
Look back.
