Loneliness Poem by Nicole M. Martin

Loneliness

Sits on my chest,
Weight like a
Thousand corpses
And the rain drops
Pelt my face
I’m burning up and
Soaking wet and
Thoughts of you
Consume me

My heart beats too
Fast and too hard
This love is a disease
Bacteria eating me up
Inside and soon
This smooth exterior
Will be as hideous
As I think it is

Break me under your
Heel, I’m nothing
And you are the sun
Son of a god that
Doesn’t exist or
Doesn’t care, one
Of those answers.

You’re eating me
And not in the good way.
