Loneliness Is An Ocean - Poem by Shannon Walker

I can see your mouth move,
The muffled hollow words,
But that's all, you're a mime,
And I'm submerged

In tears.

You know how coffee leaves
The tongue indifferent
About a pot and a half
Into the night, and numb.

That's what it's like,
A 3AM cardboard
Slice of frozen pizza
That I can't even taste.
It has to texture, no
Tonality, only

The awful hammer blows
Of Mahler's 6th Symphony,
His whore of a wife
Softly beating her black wings
Above the polluted waters.
