Lonely Dream Poem by Hector Gonzales

Lonely Dream

When someone special leaves this world we wonder why,
we hug and hold family and friends and try to say goodbye.

Our hearts are heavy and souls become empty
racking our brains with questions from here to eternity.

No answers seem to heal or even be true
Still we ask why and why and remain blue.

We become depressed and sad
We question God and try not to get mad.

Only time helps relieve the pain
But every now and then it comes again.

We miss them most when we have self doubts
We need them to help us fight our inner bouts.

We reflect back to when they were with us
And remember how much they meant and taught us.

Loneliness and depression has fallen and we drift to sleep
Our subconscious has grabbed us; our dream is hard and deep.

We are fighting with our anxieties and those who want to destroy us
We seem to be losing until they appear next to us.

They give us encouragement and assurance and push us into the fight
With them we face our fears and become victorious, souls filled with might.

We wake up feeling confident, refreshed and full of pride
We leave the house smiling, walking tall, in full stride.

Because they came to us and reassured us in our dream
We are ready to tackle anything in our way full of steam.

Some will argue the dream was not real
But they had not known them and a warm hug we did feel.

hmm, I like this poem. It's pretty close to the truth.
