Longing Poem by Alice Kriel

Longing

Dusk is fastly falling
familiar sweet melancholy
covers and fills me

Another day has passed
my search remains fruitless
sad beauty of solitary sunsets

I keep watch of the sky
waiting to wish on each
free-falling star hurtling towards earth

Clouds hug the distant suns
thunder drones overhead
and soft raindrops kiss my skin

My bed now seems emptier still
I stare into the darkness
watching a face that is not there

I pray for a dream of love
contrary to my present reality
falling asleep to angels weeping

I will love you, my dear. I'm sending a kiss sailing across the seas to soften your brittle lips. Much love, ams.

Nicely creates a mood of wistful melancholy
