Look Back - Poem by Evnika kravchuk
Don't look back.
They cried. As they faded.
'Don't be one of us! ' One dared to shout.
I didn't listen. But, I didn't look back.
When I looked ahead. I saw terror.
Right in front of me. Eight letters. Four syllables.
Holding myself from it. I tried to not look back.
It would ruin all. Not just me. But the ones I needed the most now.
They weren't here. Looking around. I set my body on the white floor.
Just there, I could feel myself fading.
As I sink deeper, I feel betrayed. I didn't want to.
Really I didn't. I was stupid. But, they didn't love me.
I understood everyone else who did it, felt the same.
Picturing my family, crying, screaming and moving on.
Was all I can Imagine. I hurt them. Worse then when they hurt me.
Those eight letters. and Four syllables. Were horrible.
