Looking Back... - Poem by Trissy Thompson
The screams of a little girl echo in the dark
Agony clear in her tortured voice.
She yells for someone.
Her best friend.
No one answers.
The sobs break from her chest
Silence shattered with broken mummbles.
The drops of extreme joy run down her skin
Smile wiped clean from her lips.
A hushed knocking comes from the door.
'Ah, dreadful meals, ' she sighs softly.
Wobbly rising, she wipes her face
Readys for dinner
And quiets herself long enough to make it through another day.
