May-Time Hay-Time

The month of May
Sowing of hay
After the plough
Has left he's scars.

A week in may
A beak fleshed out
The sprouting of the hay
This week in may.

A day in may
the birds return
the corncrake and the rail
the swallow and the quail.

An hour in may
The corn grows strong
The flesh grows weak
On broken feet.

A minuet in may
The slowing of the day
The sun shimmers smoothly
In its convex path.

A second in may
Lasts half a day
Compared to
The middle of winter.
