~memories Of Father~ - Poem by Candie Saldana

Watching you in your favorite chair
With the afternoon sun
As it shines softly over your face
I am reminded of all our memories
Memories that you and I share
And a smile comes across my lips

I wonder how such small things
That happened so long ago
Can make us so happy
You and me
Holding hands
Walking into my first movie theater
Lighting fireworks
A ball game and taking me into the men’s room
Watching you hold my newborn daughter

I would not trade these for anything
And even though I have told you before
Said it loud
Wrote it down
Do you know how much I love you?

And as the sun begins to set
And you leave your chair in the sun
Through all the tears I will shed
I will smile watching the afternoon light
Sitting in your favorite chair
And as the warmth of the sun falls over my face
I will remember you
