Mention The Name, Africa - Poem by Yusuff Uthman Adekola

Africa, Africa, Africa!
Africa of black skins
Illuminating the world as the rising early sun,
Beaming its gentle moonlight
At the end of the long narrow tunnel,
Quenching the thirst of flora and fauna
With the cool touch of its calmly drumming rain,
Lighting undying torches of knowledge
In the dark dungeon of staunch ignorance,
Pruning the eye-poking branches of foolishness
With its shiny sharp cutlass of invincible wisdom,

Africa, Africa, Africa!
Africa of the unshaken Shaka of the Zulus,
Africa of the immortal Madiba of the ailing politics,
Africa of the crowing cock of the bleeding pens
Waking the slumbering world of righting writers,
Africa of the matchless lightning thunder Bolt
Faster than a speeding bullet and the Marvel's Flash,
Africa of the cool springs, green forests and calling wild
Sticking the tourists to its glue of beauty,

Our fatherland,
The land of our mother tongue,
Our own, our pride!
We will mention your name
Even after the drum of the heart tears.
Your name shall we forever mention,
We shall mention the name,
