More Than A Man - Poem by scarlett burton

im more than a man
and i dont fear falling
iv fallen further
than your eyes can see

into the black abyse
iv chased the dark
no stars to guide my way
i see you in the shadows

you run from me
in blatant fear
that masks your face
in sorrow

i do not chase
for fear of running
deeper and deeper
into the night

but hark a voice calls
that chills me to my bones
promises of life
and love and death

the promise is sweet
but salty to the taste
a lie i feel abroad
but i have come to far

to turn back now
would mean leaving here
from the cold embrace
of the moonless dark

the night is my queen
i do her bidding
and she rewards me
in eternal black

i am more than a man
and i dont fear falling
i have fallen further
than your eyes can see
