My Companion - Poem by Horatius Chinedu Okike

A companion I sought
A companion if found
The sight of you breathe life into me
A glance at you and thousands of sorrows came to naught
I will never let a smile leave your face
Whether in good or bad times
We’ll always be together
Just like eyelashes are with the eyes
And neck with the heads
You will dream and I’ll fulfill them
In the scorching heat of the sun
I’ll be your shade
And in the cold
I’ll give you warmth
When the rains bother you
I’ll change the course of the clouds
And when a storm blows
I’ll turn the winds away and
I’ll protect you all my life
My body and soul I shall give unto you
We shall bridge all the distances
And make a new world
Oh my girl companion.
