My Indomitable Desire For A Need Poem by Gerald Opio

My Indomitable Desire For A Need

Rating: 5.0

Whenever I need something,
I long, a longing peculiar,
I crave, a craving superfluous,
I seek, a seeking overly profound.

The gravity of longing,
exposes me to fraudsters,
extortionists I bump into,
attenuating my proper discernment.

Various vagaries I fall for,
Because I prioritise my need.
Opting for the cheapest of options,
which is an ensnarement for the cozener.

Perilous moments engendered by need come in diverse cheap ways,
due to their viable nature and affordability.
But it requires punctiliousness.

Considering a want over a need,
is a meticulous way to circumvent being cozened.
Because a want is got through endurance,
but a need is gotten through haste, due to the heterologous degree of urgency.
