My Juggernaut Drug - Poem by jordan richards

I wait for hours a day
Longing for my meager allotment
My prescription so far away
Yet so close as the warm cement
Lying under my feet
Only softer and far more discreet.

It's an understatement to say prescription
A drug is what I crave
A full-blown addiction
But I do not wish to be saved
From this juggernaut-drug
It's no more deadly than a lover's flow'ry hug

And I'm smiling and calm While I savor these violet pills
As peaceful as a breeze-bumped Bahama palm
Or softly draped moonlight tinting blue gold daffodils.
