My Lil Doggie Sleeps - Poem by Teresa Bacon
Her soul was tired.
Her body was failing
My brain took over, it was time to do my part.
Her pain was intense
I gave the order for it to end
I didn't know how her sleep would break my heart
The house is empty now
No clicking of small feet
My pain is so intense, my chest pierced with a dart.
Seventeen years of friendship
A truer companion could not be found
My lil doggie sleeps now, she is forever in my heart.
