My Mind Is On Mode: Random - Poem by Jayla Graham

I write poems when I am sad.
I write poems when I am mad.
Or feeling alone,
But I have no real reason for writing this one.
You know when you are in the dumps so bad your heart feels hollow?

Congrats, we are on the same page.
As a child I used to write poems about death and sorrow,
But I am not sure what this one is for.
My feelings right now is not what I usually feel when I write a poem.
I am not sad.
I am not mad.
Nor, feeling alone...
Yet I feel rather neutral…
My mind is on mode: Random.
I feel as if I let someone down.
How do I begin to explain? ? ?
I feel like I am not in “grandma’s hands, ”
And when she left there was no sunshine.
And my day wasn’t lovely.
After, my Umi said shine the light on the world,
But how can I?
If I am not like the swallow that flies free,
And the river that never runs dry…
MOM! What happen to just the two of us? ? ?
We can make it if we try…just the two of us,
You and I
But I believe I have explained enough.
My mind is on mode: Random.
This is my life everyday that I try to pull away…
A free written poem.
Right now my mood has changed,
I feel as if I want to scream, shout, or cry…
But that would be a waste because my tears would come down dry.
I reminisce about the nights in white satin.
But then I woke to find that I was…
California dreamin’.
My mind is on mode: Random.
