The night is beautiful, So the faces of my people. The stars are beautiful, So the eyes of my people. Beautiful, also, is the sun. Beautiful, also, are the souls of my people

Your poem warmed my heart to know that me a Haitian who is related to Africans are as beautiful as the night and stars.I can’t wait to tell my American adopted mother about this poem.I am going to say it in front of my classmate and I hope they will like it too.

Pleasure to see someone sees the beauty. I wish greatly that more can do the same.

It's a great work by Mr Hugh's. Beauty lies in the eyes of a sensitive person, not in the dimensions. Thanks for the sharing of the poem.

Short but significantly powerful with its message for minority empowerment, in a few lines Mr. Hughes conveys a reassuring message to those who have been marginalized by the mainstream strata of society. I don't think this is so much Black lives matter as much as Black is Beautiful, the soul of a person is the most beautiful thing. I cant say much more, but this is a great piece to be read especially in divisive times.

Yes, all the peoples of the world are beautiful... old people, young people, sad people, happy people, handicapped people, people who are not handicapped. Look at pictures of these people- their beauty will blow you away. It helps, of course, if you look at them with eyes of love.
