My Soul - Poem by Bonnie B Long

My soul is tortured beyond belief
It has come upon a giant reef
A stumbling block of huge proportions
I feel I must pull off contortions

I’m sure you must think I’m quite insane
Hard to believe I’m normally quite inane
I cause no ripples, no waves at all
I set myself up for a giant fall

Why did I do this you might query?
I know not why but now I’m leery
Leery to trust my heart to you
I’m sure you’re leery to trust me too

But trust you I must and you know why?
I will love you until the day I die
You’ll always be a part of me
Forever and always this I see
