New World - Poem by JeanPierre Barakat

What will you take with you
When you are gone?
Neither riches, palaces
Nor precious stones...
No, none of all these...
Only the smiles you gave
And the joy you spread
In the riding storm of life.

What will you leave to the world
When you are gone?
Just good memories
Of love and hope
And your pure and heavenly soul
Eternally warm and sincere:
The thought of you
Will comfort a trembling heart...

What will you wish to the world
When you are gone?
Give hope to all the non-believers
Take all the time it takes
To reach your goal
And in your giving and taking
Watch a new world unfold
In you...
