Night - Poem by Dilantha Gunawardana

Night fell with her lengthy shadows
As everything in the path of sight faded
Like a pitch black fog saturating the horizon
As darkness blanketed the ambient
Yet amidst the blackout of nightfall
There was a satellite in a protracted vigil
With her sisterly troupe of stars
Fighting darkness in pockets of luminescence
Celestial creatures evangelizing the onlooker
To an intercourse with light
