Nightly Devout Recollections Poem by james watkin

Nightly Devout Recollections

1/

Filled with the spirit
Of holy love.
But what, purely mundane
Does testify of.

In this pool of tears
Am I drowning in.
But by no altar, save
Selene's *; of satin.

2/

Sketching, from a dim memory
Painting from its ideal!
The difference made over time; for
What does fairer appeal.

* Goddess of the moon
