Northern Star Poem by Kathrine Pierce

Northern Star

In the sky the northern star guided slave to freedom from afar.
Going out into the world I looked for guidance.
I heard and hear but the sound lead to science,

But then you came.
There was nothing about us that was the same.
You taught like no other that I knew.
Other philosophies with tongue’s sword you slew

You convinced me of your ways.
My mind no longer in a haze.
You taught that life’s meaning,
Can be found in the birds singing.
Your soul is my northern star.
My heart no longer weighed by tar.

Tar of my own confusion that disdainfully was my own creation.
On this path your words have been my illumination.
Now to your wisdom I have no objection,
For your thoughts have become my intuition.
