Not Just For Tonight - Poem by Thomas Grant

According to an old cliche,
Nice guys finish last.
I can tell you that its held true
So many times in my own past.

I told myself, 'I'll be the jerk.'
That will be my plan.
But Momma taught me right from wrong
And what it means to be a man.

Like the story of the Tortoise and the Hare,
Slow and steady is the pace to get you there.
Show her you love her
And treat her right.
Let her know that you'll hold her forever -
-Not just for tonight.

Follow you soul and your convictions.
From your beliefs - never part.
She'll see the truth in your eyes
And feel the love in your heart.
