Not Real - Poem by Lynzi Berner

Everythings changed
Nothing has changed

The world still spins
the sun still shines
but the view has been altered

There's a fire in the sky
and
the oceans have turned to tears

Monsters don't live
under the bed anymore
They now haunt you
as the sun shines
down on them
revealing just how
terrifying and grotesque
they really are

Demons grin at you
through the faces
of loved ones
and screams now
sing you to sleep

Hold on tight
you'll make it through
and one day
the nightmares will
return to the darkness
and light will enter
your world again

Til then
bite your lip
try not to scream
and tell yourself
this is not real
