Nowhere - Poem by Lynzi Berner

Your walking away
I feel the world

Tilting

How is it that I can
just let you leave?

My feet are stuck
nailed to the ground
with nails of confusion

You said you'd never leave
Stupid me
I believed you

I tried to scream
no words came out
I cried and cried
trying to get your attention

But you just left
So cold
So hollow
So unlike the man
I fell in love with

I guess
I always feared
it would end
But I never dreamed
it would end
So impersonal
like strangers parting
from a crowded train
that I forgot to get off of

Now I'm lost
somewhere
but really
Anywhere is nowhere
if your no longer
here
