Old West Excitement Poem by Marilyn Lott

Old West Excitement

Rating: 5.0

There was excitement back in the old west
As cities were created from scratch
Sometimes drew the kind of folks
Where lawlessness started to hatch

And that was the way with Dodge City
Riff-raft moved in and created crime
Oh, what a time it was back then
Quite different from any other time

Until the law enforcement came along
Naturally things got out of hand
But of course as time past by
Peace and law came to the land

Farms were built and families grew
And towns sprung up all around
A sheriff kept control of things
Basically towns were safe and sound

How different life was from then till now
As technology as come our way
But is it better now than back then?
In some ways it’s hard to say!
