Jenny Oliveros Lao

On Heartbreak - Poem by Jenny Oliveros Lao

I say – heartbreak is
a wedding dress
after the ceremony –
never to be worn again.

It’s the flowery bell that
ring thrice –
and then taken down –
like a bunch of lilies being thrown
and caught then put aside –

A heartbreak is a banquet
after desserts are served –
after guests are gone –
left only the echoes of –
goodbye
