On Modern Poetry Poem by Michael Shepherd

On Modern Poetry

Rating: 2.3

On the cover
of those old black hymnbooks
in those old dark churches
you can just about read
'Hymns Ancient and Modern'

As time goes by,
'ancient' gets a longer and longer history
and curiously so too
does 'modern'

Michael you are so right but I cannot go through life not writing about what I see and hear. each persons talent is their own creative work wherever it be calassical or comtempary, but you have a good point here.I found your poem a masterpiece as it stands, and a wise one too.Cheers Sylvie

So so true. Methinks we are now in the post-post-post-postmodern era of something. Michael, I reckon the challenge of neology for the - er - modern age should rest with you.... this piece made me think of the issue again. Well-written (naturally) . t x
