Some ideas
some images
keep cropping up
in poems.
And I wonder if
they're like
the sounds
at daybreak—
crickets, birds
then traffic—
but all one dawn
wonder if
the all we write
is one big poem—
so many telling
of our outer body
then the many
of its inner workings
and connections—
so vital to its life
but often hidden
from our view.
I wonder if
it's all one poem.
This is your SEMINAL POEM, Glen. It states with utmost clarity but also thoroughness an important notion: that we poets are engaged in one poem, just as we are engaged in one life. You make this notion not only plausible but attractive. I like the way you incorporate the outer life and the inner life in this one evolving poem. That is deftly expressed. The imagery of stanza two is especially convincing: all the diverse sounds of morning still add up to one morning. Some major poets support your position, I think Octavio Paz, Yeats, Tobt. Creeley - good company!
good company indeed! - you make me laugh with that comment, daniel. my seminal poem- i find this intriguing, something i expect to steep within me... what i can say for sure is that by God's grace my perspective, my caring, has moved outwards from only selfish me. and with that i see, i find, so much beauty. appreciatively, glen
And I wonder if they're like the sounds at daybreak— crickets, birds then traffic— but all one dawn - - - - A beautiful poem - - - - - -They are all connected- - - -Our whole life is one poem.
and we are connected. i don't think i could/would have written this without the worldwide or universal awareness that participating in ph reminds me of. thank you, bharati, for reading my poem and for your kind affirmation. -glen
This is beautiful and thought-provoking, Glen. I think poets live life as poems, view life as poetry. A poem reveals a little of the inner workings of the poet's mind. And what a complicated thing a mind is!
once again, thank you, laurie- for reading my poems and caring to comment. until it struck me yesterday, i never had this thought- which is another way of thinking of archetypes. -glen
All disparate experiences and occurrences scattered here and there make the epic poem of life! As a poem has many hidden meanings, life too has a number of under currents concealed from visible eyes! A great write Glen!
thank you, valsa. and it strikes me- all of it before God who sees and cares. so much of it like prayer. -glen

I would like to translate this poem
It is actually one poem. The song of our life!
thank you, ruta, for reading and commenting. yes, a song of so many, a swirl of voices rising is how i'm imagining it right now. be blessed! -glen
