One Wish Poem by Jason R Tschetter

One Wish

Rating: 3.0

<
If I had just one wish what should it be?
a time with god spend in reverie?
Or the time when I played my first heart string?
with someone's lips to mine to bring?

Everyone has a wish that they all want granted
Albeit those wishes are made with feelings
Love, hate, fear, self loathing take control
making the wish for this life a deeper hole.

Picture this if you will
a single tear trickles down her cheek
his name on her lips she needs to speak
quivering is her heart and the blood in her veins
the love of what could have been drives these pains

Her long hair hugs her face
she sings out her wish in this dark place
a mind not knowing that she had what she wanted all along
but such is life that you wish for what you had
and sing to the gods above with a wishful song

But everyone knows that a wish is a wish
that what you want may come true some day
and you should be careful what you wish for
for if you had it would you really be ok?
I say that this is what is mad
that we wish every time for what we almost had!
