Overcoming Defeat Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Overcoming Defeat

The day is short with hours planned…
places to be and things to do
Elected by proxy to take the wheel...
searching for a map to give a clue

Clouds are gathering creating cover
Graying purpose… blocking the sun
Dense humid air is creating a huge bubble
My thoughts trapped before they've begun

Guided by glazed eyes with cosmetic appeal
Discovering a sliver of light and transparency…
Arriving at a destination that is reserved
for those who seek with trust… and believe

With a shallow breath… observing the view
Listening and hearing silent applause…
A journey completed that once was impossible
Firmly standing… defying Murphy's Law
