Patience Poem by Godfrey Machuka

Patience

Damn patience
What is its essence?
Or who can tell the nuance
Of the duration of a chance?

How long shall one wait
Before the fish swallows the bait?
Suppose it takes forever
What will one say of his endeavor?

After a month is a salary
Then one can enjoy in the gallery
Now if patience really pays
What’s the duration of its pay days?

Must patience come with pain
Before one celebrates the gain?
If so what explains luck
Is it to perseverance a rude lark?

Just as tomorrow will never come
Patience is a word to force you calm
And if into fortune you’ll ever bump
Foolishly to patience you’ll raise a thumb

Stand up now and mound your fists
Like in the wild the way of the beasts
For if you just sit and wait for wait
Your mind will wake when it'll be too late.
