Peace Reigned Poem by Santosh Bakaya

Peace Reigned

With a quivering finger,
I traced the contours of the dark night
Was there stardust on my fingertips?
I thought I saw a star bright
The fire in the hearth was dying
But miraculously
The hearth crackled with an ardor new
And right before my eyes,
A peace poem was born
Was it black magic or maybe white?
Or perhaps just wishful thinking?
But anyway, my heart stopped sinking
Lo and behold, a flame leapt towards me
Suffusing me with a warm glow.
Light outside, light above and light inside
Serene and calm
Someone in the distance was singing a melody of love
Peace reigned and rained.
