Pickaninny Dreams - Poem by Nella Juniors

One pickaninny, two pickaninny, three pickaninny, four
I see every dream, every dream you adore
Five pickaninny, six pickaninny, seven pickaninny, eight
To feast on your dreams, I can hardly wait

In congressional ink I drain the lifeline of your success
Make your motivation mine, systematically massacre your means
Which means I ensure you end up fiends, fumbling
Finding futures in the streets, packing heat to keep warm
No more will you long for the pros, when I could have you runnin' hoes
No thoughts of leaving the block, your only option slangin' crack rocks

One pickaninny, two pickaninny, three pickaninny, four

Pretty Penelope, private school princess poised to succeed
Believes beyond doubt she's bound to be brilliant
Stunning sista thinkin' she slick
But a nigga be nimble, a nigga be quick
Dare to dream little girl, nah you destined to be dancin' damsel
Booty bouncin', pussy poppin' for young playa's
Forgotten is your future fantasy of the Ivy League
Pretty Penelope is a pole professional
Baby better believe, there are no dreams allowed in the ghetto

Five pickaninny, six pickaninny, seven pickaninny, eight

I am no demon, you elected, protected and will soon have erected a statue in my honor
America loves to lionize those who pillage pickaninny possibilities
Keep the negros in the ghettos, and make them believe there's no way out
That's why you elected me right
Cause crushing kids concepts of a brighter future
Is how we further feed the white, I mean right, agenda
We don't need no more nigga doctor's
No nigga businesses on our blocks
We need drug dealers slingin' dope,
Rackin' up dough, not too much, just enough for us to incarcerate
Place in privatized prison, put pickaninny back in its proper place
So my pockets never go hungry

One pickaninny, two pickaninny, three pickaninny, four
I see every dream, every dream you adore
Five pickaninny, six pickaninny, seven pickaninny, eight
To feast on your dreams, I can hardly wait
Nine pickaninny, ten pickaninny, ‘levin pickaninny, twelve
You're not destined for greatness, you're meant to live in a cell
Dreams are illegal in this here ghetto
No dreams for pickaninnies, so you got nowhere to go
