Political Birds Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Political Birds

Rating: 4.5

(Members of the British Parliament)

Politicians are unruly birds
Flocking raucously on Parliament benches
Trying to chirp the loudest.
Cuckoos in the nest
Promises made to be elected
Never to be kept.

Oh, the effrontery of politician birds
Pompous, full of self-important
Squawking as they prance and dance
Thinking themselves so clever
Calling themselves the political elite
Wanting to be Prime Minister.
