Rainy Day Railroad - Poem by Carina Ely

There once was a very lonely girl
walking down a lonely path
A path with nobody around her
Nobody could hear her cry or her laugh

She walked down the railroad,
with sun, rain or snow,
She was surrounded by rocks and dirt,
where no plants could or would grow

Then one day, the rain came down,
Came down on the poor girls soul
It came down so very hard
It felt like it was drilling a hole

The poor girl could not take the rain,
so she sat there on the grass
Many cars she would see
Every car she saw would pass

She sat there for decades,
until she was hard as stone
her lifelong dream did not come true
she had no place to call her own
