Reason - Poem by iqra hassan

My reason, like a seasoned whore,
Deceives, betrays, leaves,
my devout faith behind,
And warms the bed of,
Ever skeptical human being in me,
It cajoles the already rogue,
Fickle creature lying in my head,
And feeds on the giblets of the pessimist,
Farrago of failures I affray…
My reason keeps me gallivanting,
Always away from that quintessence,
Which holds to the gravity the truth- seekers,
Like the sun holds the celestial bodies,
Bound by the light of faith,
That shows on both, inside and outside…
‘'I'' the rational,
Continues its free fall,
Towards the murk of confusion,
That reason bestows..
And to the end,
I submit to my faith for,
all I know is,
‘'the only knowing is knowing not''

Great piece. Who would have thought, freedoms would eventually drag us away from what we considered to be true when our minds were vulnerable and untrue. (Report)Reply
