Response To An Apology Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Response To An Apology

In retrospect you realize the hurt...
You trampled my heart into the dirt
Now you see what arrogance can do…
It reaps a payback that is long overdue.

Thoughtless words and actions cut deep
Superiority is a blind boaster; talk is cheap
The best thing you ever knew, is now gone,
Dignity and respect have been withdrawn.

Now you ask for forgiveness and apologize
With a view from the other side, you are wise.
Will your newest sincerity be heard with belief?
Can love and trust be restored after years of grief?
