Rewind Button - Poem by Kellie Younger
All the 'what ifs' still exist,
They won't leave my head.
I wonder what we could've been,
If we still have what we had,
But that was so many years ago.
You've changed so much,
We've changed so much.
The days of telling secrets,
That no one else knew.
The days of writing notes in class,
And hanging out during recess.
Those were the best days of my life.
And now, some of the best memories.
Every night, I relive them, but only in my dreams.
Why not start over?
Build back the relationship that once existed.
The friendship we had,
Was like no other.
You were the first one I went to,
When new problems arose.
You always made bad days better,
But now, whenever I see you,
All the 'what ifs' come back.
Why did we do this?
Why destroy something so rare?
More than anything,
I wish to have that back,
The security of someone who understands me.
Life needs a rewind button,
I would go back and do things differently.
Maybe then, I would still have the friend I need most.
