Robbery At Chevy Chase Bank. The Manager's Story. - Poem by Slava Olchevski

I was flipping through channels looking for thrills
But what I found, had given me chills
A crime was committed in my neighborhood
The robber was fleeing with police in pursuit

A safe was picked at Chevy Chase bank…
The world has stopped, my mind went blank
You know, I am a manger of that very branch
What should I do to prevent money stanch

I quickly ran through the empty street
It was cold and windy, heavy rain and sleet
When I got to the bank, I was alone
Only yellow tape for police cordon

The money was there, all safe and sound
But I still took some home - in order to count
Greenbacks, I remember my father have said
When you can grab them – go ahead…

A few days later, I read in the paper
Police had found the perpetrator
They strip searched him, the guns they discovered
But the stolen money were never recovered

The money I took home that night
I safely stashed in a box watertight
For all the stress and troubles I faced
I received a promotion and a salary raise!
