Satan's Tears - Poem by Dustin Orin Talley

He cuts through the predawn
and makes little leaves shake like November
His mornings bring broken babies
and make graves all the rage
His apples have seeds
that leave trees like creases in the sky

He has a jacket with an elbow patch and a tearful eye
Because the wind still softly sighs
The world breaths easy but says no goodbye
Beauty is painful
and the pain is why he cries
