Scam Poem by Ronnie Rayner Larter

Scam

Money spiders
and their network of fine threaded webs
are almost invisible to the eye;
they hide and wait
for the innocent to enter the spider's gate,
grab their spoils,
guzzle what they catch
then lie in wait
to consume bank accounts
of the next naïve victim
that enters the gate.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Have you ever had what's called a ‘money spider' dangling from your hair, grabbed the ultra-fine web and wound it three times around your head? It's an old wives' tale that was supposed to bring you riches. The spider is so tiny, and the web they spin is so fine, it's almost invisible. It prompted me to relate money scammers with money spider in this short piece of poetry.
