Set It Aflame - Poem by Melissa K Vigna

We lie in the dark so we may not be seen
We whisper our words so we may not be heard
We hide in this room with just hopes and dreams
An idea in mind that’s been put into words
And soon we escape from this wretched room
We batter the door down and we see the sun
We leave behind all others darkness and gloom
Defeated them all and now we have won
And so we return years later again
To see what exactly our room became
And as we walk into the room that we left
We throw down the torch and we set it aflame
