She would do all the household chores,
the cleaning, mopping, vacuuming,
With utmost attention,
scrubbing, dusting, ironing,
with maximum precision,
boiling, frying, baking, warming, cooling, blowing,
with phenomenal devotion,
emptying, filling, folding, shaking,
with extraordinary dedication,
yes, she played it all by the rules
she paid her taxes, a good law abiding citizen,
never stepped on the neighbor’s lawn,
never disobeyed the husband,
submitted herself when he was horny,
never flirted with the guys,
She played it all by the rules,
detested all narcotics, and drinks,
like a Calvinist, a Purist, total abstinence indeed,
was epitome of chastity, paragon of virtue,
incarnation of faith, perfect example of loyalty
would go to church every Sunday,
she was baptized, took communion,
would sing religious hymns and psalms,
appealed to confessions, preaching, praying
She played it all by the rules,
But something happened!
She disappeared for a month,
No trace of her anywhere,
in the red light district,
in a cheap sleazy hotel, near a brothel,
the police found a man’s massive dead body,
naked, muscular, huge, emanating potency and stamina,
poor hunk! poor Akindele, ‘’oh dah-boh’’, adieus,
a king size preservative in his hand,
She played it all by the rules!
her husband’s revolver was on the floor.
