Sleep Poem by Mary Roach

Sleep

I was awoken in the night
The darkness gave me a scare
So I just closed my eyes
And pretended it wasn’t there

I snuggled in my blankets
Not making a peep
I gave my room one last look
And tried to go back to sleep

I tossed and turned all night long
Not even getting a nap
So I sat there in the darkness
And put on my thinking cap

I thought about happy things
Like flowers blue and red
I kept thinking, thinking, thinking
Until I soundly went to bed

The next day I awoke
With a yawn and a sigh
But I just sat there in bed
And watched another day go by.
