Sleep With Me Lake Poem by L C Vieira

Sleep With Me Lake

Sleep with me, Lake,
cool hands
in warmth.

Stirring, stirring,
You taste me
tasting you,
my naked skin
in rippling hunger.

Remember youth and fear
all closed up and covered?

Now push against my weight.
Struggle for power!

Who's in control now?

I'm tired. I must admit.

No match for
a lake's confidence.
You press on
harder than I can.

But I'm still here. I stayed.

Who's stronger now?

I am -

Relaxed. Still.

I pat the lake,
my easy float.

A mutual trust.
A shared swallow.

I gave in once
and won forever.

Oh, to stay uncovered
inside your blanket!

My senses burst
from this great calm.

Your pillow's my bed,
you well-worn lake.
These limbs are yours
and yours I take.

Thank you, My Lake.
Thank you, My Lake.
