Sleepless Nights, Waiting - Poem by luther cascade

My memories as a child consist of this...
In the country side, where coyotes howled,
Snakes prowled, and no neighbors for miles.
With mother, I'm there for comfort it's only right
But a sad situation is why were not asleep,
Sitting, staring to the open world,
Staring into the skies, peaceful and quiet
Late night, when birds no longer chirped
A full moon lighting the world so bright
I remembered
Sitting in my yard, on the porched
wondering why dad's been gone for days,
And yet no sign of him coming back
Despise dad's crimes, despise his faults,
Mother and I waiting, hoping,
wishing to the big, bright stars
Hoping he would come back
So mother and I would be able
To go back to sleep,
So her eyes would no longer weep....
