Someone I'Ll Never Forget - Poem by bethlehem maresa

you made a difference to me
'if i was dead, i came alive'
memories of your sweet smile
keep me breathing

you had a way
of letting me know you cared
a kiss every morning
before you headed off to the shop

only 15 when you were
arranged to marry an older man
only 18 when he left
you worked hard for me

in the one picture of you and i
your arms are tight around me
your eyes are heavy, so tired
but you're smiling, watching your child

how could i ever forget?
a mother's love is irreplaceable
one day i'll have a baby girl
and i'll pass on your spirit
