Something More Poem by L C Vieira

Something More

There's something far richer than gold and pearls,
Sparkling necklines, flattering words,
Enchanting smiles, enticing eyes,
Slender bodies with their price.

There's something deeper than skin as treasure,
Youthful promise, a moment's pleasure,
Or chance's hunger of one glance shared,
For strangers only, secrets bared.

There's something strong in trust unspoken,
Faith in love beyond love's tokens,
Destiny instead of chance;
The restful sleep of confidence.

There's something found when nothing's lost,
When none's the fool, and none's the cost,
When all is said as meant with love,
And all that's love is well enough.

There's something closer to one's heart,
Than all the flesh in other parts;
A truth that dares to speak itself,
And does not hide from true love's wealth.

There's something more than second best,
And when one knows it, two shall rest;
A treasure if it once be found,
Is more than all the world around.
